On the occasion of the 111th International Women's Day, the National Commission for Women (NCW) conducted a school-level oratory contest on the causes, challenges and solutions to the causes of sexual abuse and sexual violence against girls.
Twenty-two students from 11 community schools in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts presented their oratory skills.
There was one male and one female student from each school. Each participant had six minutes.
Winners:
- 1st place: Mr. Jasmine Bhujel, Class 10, B in Padma Kanya, Cash Prize: Rs. 20,000
- Second place: Mr. Karuna Budhathoki, Class 12, Soldier Residential, Cash Prize: Rs. 15,000
- Third place: Mr. Sameer Giri, Class 10, Vishwamitra Ma, Cash Prize: Rs. 10,000
- Consolation: Mr. Saurabh Poudel, Class 12, Soldier Resident, Cash Prize: Rs. 5,000
The winning students will be awarded on the 19th anniversary of the Commission (February 8, 2077 BS).
