Press release

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has drawn serious attention to the news of abuse and beating of Taramuni Paswan, a ward member of Vigulpur 27 in Kalaiya Sub-metropolis of Bara District. Police had rescued Mahendra Shah from a group of 30.35 people including his neighbor Mahendra Shah on August 20, 2078 at 11 pm. After receiving information about the incident, the monitoring team led by Hon'ble Member of the Commission Bidya Kumari Sinha had conducted on-site monitoring of the incident. The monitoring team inquired about the health condition of the victim at the National Medical Teaching Hospital in Birgunj including the victim's family, neighbors and the district police. The head of the office, ward chairperson and a representative of the hospital were also instructed to investigate the incident seriously. As the incident is a case of violence against women, the National Women's Commission draws the serious attention of the concerned body to promptly investigate the incident, find out the facts, bring the victims to justice and take legal action against the culprits as soon as possible.
